Jody and Mark are a couple of friends who have been playing music together for fifteen years. They share a love of good tunes and present a blend of classic rock and country that’s sure to please.

Carolina Bluegrass Style
1-3 pm
Carolina Bluegrass Style is a unique blend of young and old; past, present and, maybe, the future. When Tommy Thomas asked Tyler Chasteen, Don Ashley and David Prosser to get together and play some music they had no idea that they would be creating a new group, But their popularity has passed all expectations. A blend of traditional Bluegrass, Western Swing, rock, reggae, and classical, “CBS” brings a unique approach to traditional music. Give them a listen!

Mara Johnson and the Carolina Tumbleweed Band
3-5 pm
Based in Asheville, NC, Mara Johnson and the Carolina Tumbleweed Band blend soulful storytelling with dynamic instrumentation. With Mara’s powerful vocals and David “Tumbleweed” Robbins’ electrifying sax, they deliver a heartfelt, high-energy sound rooted in soul and blues.
Saturday Night Street Dance
New this year! Come dance the night away on the streets of Spruce Pine with Bandana Rhythm and square dance caller Stan Young following the BBQ Festival. The dance is from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Locust (Lower) Street and is open to all. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music if you don‘t want to shake a leg. Admission is $5, with children 12 and under free.
It‘s gonna be a great time..don‘t miss it!

About Bandana Rhythm…
Mitchell County‘s own Bandana Rhythm has been entertaining audiences from the smallest to the biggest stages. They have entertained audiences all over the region and recently served as the dance band for the North Carolina Rhododendron Festival back in June, 2026. They were an an opening act for Old Crow Medicine Show in Spruce Pine in October, 2025.
Bandana Rhythm‘s blend of bluegrass and mountain music is energetic, infectious, and will get you up out of your seat. Come enjoy a great evening at the Street Dance!

Over the years, the music stage at the Spruce Pine BBQ Festival has seen a treasure trove of artists perform. Scott McKinney, Barrett Davis, Randy Flack, JAM, Will Ritter, Tru Blu, Pierce Danger, Rock Creek Ramblers…the list goes on and on! Featuring a variety of musical styles, the stage has been home to both solo artists and groups, internationally-recognized and locally-based, and all bringing their talents to entertain.
Music a a BIG part of our festival experience, and we hope you’ll make plans to be with us all day long, tapping your foot to the tunes and enjoying great food and fellowship!
